I had the privilege of staying home alone today as Wifey was out of town for her team building and my in-laws took my baby boy out. Nothing much to do when I realized that I had earlier copied Thunderbolt from my colleague a few days earlier.

Thunderbolt, for those of U who are too young to know or too old to remember, is a Jackie Chan flick which features a lot of cars (actually, a lot of Mitsubishi cars as I believe Jackie Chan had a contract with Mitsubishi back then), and if I am not mistaken, was actually the first time Malaysia’s Sepang F1 Circuit was in a major motion picture. The show was actually released back in 1995, just when I first got my driving license and started to have interests in fast cars. :D My it has been a long time since I last watched this film, obviously in VCD format then.

Now, some of the Mitsubishi cars featured in the film is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II, Mitsubishi GTO and 1 of my all time favourites, the Mitsubishi FTO. It has has some non-Mitsubishi cars, like the Mazda RX7 and the villain’s ride, the Nissan Skyline GTR32.

And about 15 years ago, Jackie Chan was still young and agile, so U get to see replays of all his stunts in slow motion. And I gotta say, they were much more impressive compared to most of his latest shows. Some of the stunts include being put on fire, walking on glass and also free falling 20 or so feet in a container suspended in mid air.

As for the plot of the movie, I’m not going to tell U what it is. But the bottom line is, if I are a fan of Jackie Chan, fast cars and/or GT queens, U ought to give this show a go, if U have not done so already for the past 13 years. Watching it again for me sure brings back a lot of memories…
